Larrivée L10-SE
A 2001 Larrivée L10-SE Special Edition with custom ‘Robin Hood’ headstock inlay.
The L10 is one of Jean Larrivée’s flagship models built with level 10, (or master grade), tonewoods all round. This SE ‘Special Edition’ model was a limited release with mother of pearl dot fretboard inlays rather than the abalone ones. It still has the bound fretboard, abalone rosette and abalone top surround and this particular guitar has been customised with one of Wendy Larrivée’s famous intricate headstock inlay designs. This one was referred to as ‘Robin Hood’ and it’s stunning piece of work.
Size wise, this is referred to as a grand concert or auditorium size. It provides a great balance between the powerful bass of a dreadnought and punchy mid to highs of an OM and is perfect for fingerpicking or light strumming work, although it still holds it’s own when giving it some as well.
It’s been very well looked after for it’s 24 years of life and the Sitka top has honeyed up beautifully. There are a couple of shows of the lacquer finish at 2 small points round the binding on the lower waist on front and back and one on the neck join. The tuners have been replaced with some Grover ones, which has left some holes which have been filled professionally and the strap button has been moved, which has left a small hole which has also been filled in the ivoroid heel cap. All in all though, it’s a very sweet sounding guitar in great condition.
It travels in it’s deluxe Larrivée hard case.
